The PRO-CURE Photo and Hot Tip Contest

Cresent Lake, Oregon is one of my favorite lakes to fish. I really enjoy jigging for big macs and one of my secrets is using trophy trout bait sauce on my jigs, I usually am jigging in the 80’ to 120’ range so I think the scent makes all the difference. This picture really shows the clarity of the water at Cresent. Also attached is a picture of the biggest mac I have caught while jigging at Cresent. I always use Pro-Cure Trophy Trout smeared all over my jig. I was only able to get this picture, I did not get measurements as the fish was struggling and I needed to get it back in the water. I do fairly well catching Macs at this lake and I’m quite sure it is one of the larger fish caught here.

November 17th, 2008. Well this is one memory that will live for a very long time. Caught at China Cove area of Donner Lake trolling a J13 Fire Tiger smeared with Po-Cure’s Garlic Crawfish on 8 pound test line. I started marking suspended fish. About the 3rd or 4th pass thru, I thought I snagged bottom. I circled in the opposite direction, just like you would for a stuck lure. After about 5 minutes I had good position and tried to work my lure free. Then all of a sudden, I’m feeling a very heavy active pull. Holy crap - it’s a fish. Game on baby! After a few minutes I started to gain some good control. After netting her I tried for thirty minutes but I could not revive her. I called Mt. Hardware and they weighed her on a certified scale. She was 23 pounds 2 ounces. 41 inches long. Stomach contents 4 keeper size Kokanee in various stages of digestion.

Working from my office on the lower Willamette River. Fishing for sturgeon had been really slow for most boats. Almost everyone was using smelt. We were injecting smelt with Pro-Cure’s UV flash Sturgeon Cocktail Bait Oil. We picked up 3 keepers within the first hour and a half, plus plenty of shakers. Using the scent made a huge difference, and I’m convinced these fish are seeing the UV enhanced baits and keying on them. Combining sight and scent can’t hurt. It certainly didn’t for us. Ps: the smilin’ guy with the solo sturgeon is Jeremy Bishop - our sales manager. Of course they are not eligible to win in the monthly photo contest, but their entry contains some great ‘how to’ information. Also we want folks to know that at Pro-Cure we are all very serious fisherman. That’s why our products work so well.

What a beautiful week here in the Florida Keys. The weather was superb. This is why so many come and spend time here in the winter months to enjoy the mild temps and hot fishing action. The sailfish were on the slower end this week however; anyone willing to put in their time got their chances and many fish were caught and released. Live baiting speedos on the reef edge and on wrecks out to 160 feet will produce huge results. An added benefit is that the sails and smoker kings love them too. The bad news is that they can be challenging to PRO-CURE. While we are on the subject of PRO-CURE, I have found a great new product that helps me to catch fish. The name of the company is PRO-CURE and they sell products to add scent to your offerings. The super squid gel is my favorite one. Add a drop to your squid rig to entice more and larger snappers and groupers to bite your deep rigs. Smear some on your high speed jig for that extra touch on days when the bite is slower. I have even got fish to bite a bare hook with it! You can find it on-line at www.pro-cure.com. Try it out, you will not be disappointed. They also make a dye to make your ballyhoo bright green, pink and or blue. The bright green ballyhoo are really brilliant in the sunlight. The mahi mahi should be able to find them easier this spring when we shift our sights to the offshore grounds.
